I’ve been lucky to work on a wide variety of projects over the last 9 years. Below is a selection of those which help to demonstrate the variety of skills that I have built up during that time.

  • Larger Projects

These Projects longer term projects involved more planning, consultation and project management.

    cafe.com

    cafe.com

cafe.com came to us with an idea for a casual gaming web site aimed at the ‘soccer mum’ market in North America.

The USP for cafe.com was to build in social networking principles along with being the first web site to enable players to create their own 3D avatar that would also be their in-game character in some of the new games to be developed after launch.

Initially there were to be two revenue streams  for the site; advertising and user purchased ‘boosts’ and enhancements.

The client provided us with a series of Powerpoint presentations and basic requirements. We were then tasked with defining the site map, user experience, design elements, layout (wire frames), final design and functionality definitions along with some of the initial Flash based content for the site launch.

In a previous project our design and branding team had already created the brand identity based on its core values and mission.

    matrix42

    matrix42

matrix42 are a multinational company, now part of the Assecco group who provide IT asset management solutions for companies with between 100 and 10000 units (These may be desktop PCs servers, PDAs etc).

At the start of this process matrix42 came to Immersive Projects stating the requirement to improve the way that  they communicated to their clients both on the web and offline.

We produced a 3 phase project that would

    1. Analyse their client base and produce a plan for communicating effectively with the different groups
    2. Produce the design & functionality definitions to enable a 3rd party development company to build a new web site that would communicate to the different client groups defined as a result of phase 1 on a variety of levels.
    3. ‘Freshen’ the brand’s visual identity to better show it’s core values & better communication defined as a result of phase 1. We produced two books as part of this phase, a ‘brand’ book, which outlined the values, customer groups and aims of the matrix42 brand and an identity book, which laid down definitions of the visual representation of the matrix42 brand.

    Ellisons

    Ellisons

Ellisons are a large wholesaler to the hair dressing and beauty industry with a national and international market share. They came to Immersive Projects looking for a team to help bring their site to the next level.

The main areas of concern were to increase sales to existing customers as well as help bring in new wholesale and student customers. With this in mind we looked at the following areas:

    • User experience and information architecture
    • General look and feel
    • Site structure and content
    • Web site marketing activities (specifically email marketing and search engine performance)

    The Harbour Lights

    The Harbour Lights

The Harbour Lights is a small, award winning Fish & Chip restaurant and take-away company located in Falmouth & Truro, Cornwall.

Their requirement was for someone to take over the site management and general IT support for both locations and help them develop their online presence in a way that will both produce a return and heighten awareness of the company’s green credentials, something that is important to the way in which they operate.

    The Valley

    The Valley

The Valley is a luxury holiday village situated in a secluded valley between Falmouth and Truro. They have taken fully on board the need for a high quality, well marketed public web site, which has been fully integrated into a business management suite, created by Look Systems.

I was brought in to help complete this long term project and provide a versatility that would enable the client to work closely with one person through the development of the front end web site. This brought into play skills in design, development, project and client management as well as flash development, online marketing and strategic planning.

I continue, though Look Systems, to work closely with The Valley providing online marketing services and technical support for the CMS area of the site.

    digital landscape

Digital Landscape is one of my own projects.

The idea is a blog aimed not at other web designers, but at those who are looking into web design for their business, either through using a design agency or following the DIY route. It contains articles and information that will hopefully empower them to work more effectively with anyone they choose to work with, or give them a starting point from which to learn if they prefer the DIY route.
